Cranberries are small, tart berries native to North America that have been used medicinally for hundreds of years by Native Americans, folk healers and herbalists. Cranberry juice extracts contain tannins that prevent bacteria from adhering to the urinary tract, bladder and kidney walls. Although beneficial for mild cases, Cranberry Extract is not a substitute for antibiotics during acute infections. It may help, toutefois, when used in conjunction with tr-aditional medicine or as a preventative.
