Greenish white crystalline powder or crystal. Slightly odorous, slightly sweet metallic. This product is dampened or its aqueous solution is oxidized to become a yellowish brown with positive iron salt. Light can promote oxidation. Iron ions react with other food additives to facilitate coloration. Soluble in water, into a transparent liquid with green, acidic. Almost insoluble in ethanol.

It is widely used in food, beverage, dairy product, table salt, nutritive liquid,medicine, etc. It has hotable results in the prevention and cure of iron-deficiency anemia. 

As food additive, the adding amount of Ferrous Lactate should be: 120-240mg in cereal and cereal product, 50-100mg in beverage, 300-500mg in dairy product and nurseling food, 4800-6000mg in table salt and bonbon.
